The goal of the Jean Monnet Module “Civil society organisations and policy making in the EU” is to offer a specific course on the EU and the role of civil society in policy making. The expected audience of the module are students of the University of Cádiz, in particular in the campuses of Jerez and Cádiz, and civil society organisations, including non-governmental organisations, trade unions, and other entities related to the design and implementation of public policies.The Module will be located at the University of Cádiz.
The Module will provide this new knowledge on the role of civil society on public policy in the EU. There will be information about both EU institutions and cross-national differences on civil society engagement in policy making. The Module consists in an annual course of 40 hours, with online and offline activities, bilingual in Spanish and English, to be held at the University of Cádiz (in Jerez and Cádiz campuses). To this it will be added an International Workshop of 10 hours, that will be held at the University of Cádiz (in Spanish and English).
The Module aims to analyse the reality of civil society organisations and social movements, and their relationship with public policy at different scales within the EU, from a variety of disciplines (Sociology, Human Geography, Social Anthropology, History, Political Science, Economics, Social Work…) The contents will be published in a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) at the end of the three-years Jean Monnet project. The main audience are university students and scholars, civil society, NGOs, policy makers and anyone who may be interested on these relevant topics.
